Ricarda Lee Lim
June 26, 1945 - May 7, 2024
Sacramento, California - Ricarda (Ricky) Lee Lim was born on June 26, 1945, to Richard and Betty Mar in Sacramento, California, where she lived a full life as a career professional and a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, and grandmother. An avid learner and career woman, Ricky earned a bachelors and multiple graduate degrees from California State University, Sacramento, and the McGeorge School of Law, and pursued diverse careers working for the State, Pacific Bell, and as a self-employed professional, in the Sacramento area for 34 years. Strongly believing in community service, she actively served her community in many volunteer roles, including ACC board president and dedicated volunteer, board member of organizations such as the Sacramento Urban League and Travelers Aid, and as an activist on the Coalition for Media Change that petitioned the Sacramento Bee in the '80s for women's equality in hiring practices.
Ricky was so many things, an amusing storyteller, a passionate video poker player, an avid foodie, a frog lover, a world traveler. She was masterful at spinning a captivating story that left you wondering if it was real or imaginary. Her skill at video poker was legendary, and she enjoyed every moment at the casino. She relished exploring culinary delights, savoring flavors from around the world. Her fascination with frog collectables and belief that they brought her luck was infectious. She traveled far and wide, collecting memories in every corner of the world with her husband and travel companion. But above all, she was a devoted Paw Paw to her grandchildren who brought such joy to her heart.
Ricky is survived by her loving family including her husband of 60 years, Barry; two children, Lisa (Gary) and Adam (Michelle); four grandchildren, Bryn, Mitchell, Sarah, and Nathan; and four siblings, Candy (Ken), Ryan (Dalene), Eric and Gordon (Cecilia). Her legacy lives on through the lives she touched, the laughter she shared, stories she told and the love she gave. May her spirit continue to inspire us all.

Ricky Mar Lim was one of the smartest students I recall in our class and she continued her education to pursue a law degree. I recall a conversation many years ago with her about her family law practice at the time was really hard for her to remain emotionally detached in some ways . Her compassion and empathy for her clients was admirable.
Although I hadn't seen or spoken to Ricky since before the pandemic, we would connect at the Sacramento Asian Sports Foundation crabfeeds in recent years past. Our younger brothers Ryan & my brother Robby were close friends as well.
It has been a challenging few years losing more and more classmates but keeps me mindful to live life fully and try to contribute to the improvement of of our communities in our small ways. I wish Ricky's family my condolescences.
